Late Summers Storm

From clouds that storm the mountains crest where sleeping bears are stirred from rest
The lightning strikes and thunders roar
Through wind swept trees the hard rains pour
It channels down the mountains slope where rocks are washed of summers growth
Then pools in dams of storms debris on weathered roots of apples tree
With lightnings strike and thunders roar the hard rains cross the valleys floor
The orchards drain and creek beds spill and ponds exceed their natural fill
The hard rains pour through broken trees
The hard rains pour through wind swept leaves
The waters rise and rivers flood through marshlands dried by summers mud
With distance now in thunders call
Through gentle winds the rain drops fall
Then fogs begin to rise and dance as rain soaked deer revise their prance
These fogs begin to rise once more and sweep across the valleys floor
Then up the mountains slope it shrouds to complement the large puffed clouds
The marshlands spring to life
the dragons fly
the mud ducks wade
the great blue heron fish
the muskrats feed on floating plants as frogs ascend where insects dance
the osprey cry
the song birds bathe
the beavers gnaw on sticks
the raccoons scout on waters edge as crayfish stir a murky dredge
The marshlands thrive on summers rain
The sun now shines on mountains crest
where sleepy bears are poised for rest
